The introductory flight is aimed at giving the aspiring pilot first hand experience of what it takes to undergo training. We allow the student full control of the aircraft under supervision all while taking in the breathtaking views of JHB CBD from the air. We look forward to welcoming you to the institute at the soonest.

A private pilot licence, is a pilot licence that allows the holder to act as pilot in command of an aircraft privately.

A commercial pilot licence is a pilot licence that permits the holder to act as a pilot of an aircraft and be paid for his/her work. The basic requirements to obtain the license and the privileges it confers are agreed internationally by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The airline transport pilot license is the highest level of aircraft pilot licenses. Those certified as airline transport pilots are authorized to act as pilot in command on scheduled air carriers’ aircraft.

The Night Rating allows the pilot to fly safely at night in good visual weather conditions and have the benefit of being less restricted when planning and executing a particular flight. For aviation purposes, night is defined as 15 minutes after sunset and 15 minutes before sunrise.

An Instructor Rating will give you the edge over a pilot who does not have the rating, providing you with one more avenue that you can use to gain hours and experience. It also adds experience and value to your CV and career in aviation.

Initial type ratings and cross crew qualifications are offered on the Airbus A320/A330/A340 fleet. AAA is also home to our very own A320 procedural trainer.

A Multi-Engine Rating qualifies the pilot to command an aircraft that has two or more engines. Most commercial employment opportunities require that a pilot has experience on multi-engine aircraft. This rating can be completed independently or during your study towards a commercial pilot licence.

A type rating is a licensing agency’s certification of an airplane pilot to fly a certain aircraft type that requires additional training beyond the scope of the initial license and aircraft class training.

The Multi Crew Coordination or Multi Crew Co-operation (MCC) is an allowance, an additional training required in order to fly within a crew, that means in a multi-pilot aircraft with the aircrew consisting of at least two members.

The RVSM course is designed to inform pilots of the equipment requirements and the operating procedures while flying within the Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) airspace and describes the pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight procedures required for operations in RVSM airspace.

Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT) remains the leading cause of aviation accidents worldwide and most CFIT accidents occur during the approach and landing phase. This course provides pilots with the knowledge of how easily a flight crew can fall into the traps of a terrain conflict.

“Random” Area Navigation (RNAV) allows an aircraft to choose any course within a network of ground based stations or GNSS. It is typically developed and flight checked and published as procedures, which requires specific crew training and familiarization.

Alert and Collision Avoidance System or TCAS was developed to reduce the risk of mid-air collisions between aircraft. Working independently from air traffic control, TCAS uses nearby aircraft’s transponder signals to alert pilots to the danger of mid-air collisions. It does so by constructing a three-dimensional map of the airspace through which the aircraft is traveling.

Crew resource management or cockpit resource management (CRM) is a set of training procedures for use in environments where human error can have devastating effects. Used primarily for improving aviation safety, CRM focuses on interpersonal communication, leadership, and decision making in the cockpit.

Extended diversion time operations (EDTO) Any operation by an aeroplane with two or more turbine engines where the diversion time to an enroute alternate aerodrome is greater than the threshold time established by the State of the Operator. This requires specific crew training and familiarization.

Pilots of high performance aircraft are not receiving the training required to correct a loss of control. Our course is designed to teach pilots how to effectively recognize departure from controlled flight, upset scenarios, as well as the methods to properly and safely recover from these conditions.

This course is a regulatory requirement, if a Pilot has not operated an aircraft type in a period of 6 months. A Refresher course will be done for Aircraft Type, General Aviation and Aviation Security and Dangerous Goods.
